Are ''Diet'' Drinks Better Than the Regular Ones?
Drinking diet drinks has become trend because of different brands claiming that their beverage helps improve your weight.
From fruit beverages to sodas, we can find these diet drinks everywhere. But do they truly help you slim down? Are these drinks better than the regular ones?
The Truth About Diet Drinks
Myth: “Diet” drinks and cordials are better Fact: It’s true that diet drinks and cordials contain fewer calories than the regular types, and at first glance, ‘diet’ or artificially sweetened drinks seem like a good alternative if you’re managing your weight and dental hygiene. However, there are many more hidden and harmful ingredients in diet soda than one may think. Studies have shown, using artificial sweeteners can make your body crave more “sweetness” so you actually end up consuming more calories.
The artificial sweeteners used can do more harm than you’d think.
Research in this area indicates that there’s a positive link between weight gain and diet soda. If that isn’t bad enough, those who drink diet drinks are also more likely to have a heart attack or stroke.
Guess what? Regular drinks aren’t any better. If you consume regular cordials and soft drinks regularly, you have 20 percent greater chance of having a heart attack and are also more likely to develop asthma, osteoporosis, and tooth cavities.
It’s difficult to say whether diet or regular drinks are better for your health. It’s best to just avoid both.
